Jeff Avery is a partner at Doyle Dennis Avery LLP in Houston, Texas and represents railroad employees who have suffered injuries on-the-job or who have been wrongfully terminated. As the head of the firm’s briefing and appellate division, Jeff prides himself on the firm’s ability to fight on behalf of injured employees against railroad companies. This ranges from fighting at trial before a jury or making legal arguments to the judge.
In addition, based on his experience representing whistleblowers, Jeff represents employees for claims under the Federal Railroad Safety Act (FRSA), 49 U.S.C. § 20109. Under the FRSA, an employee of a railroad carrier or a contractor or subcontractor is protected from retaliation for reporting certain safety and security violations, including reporting an on-the-job injury, providing information regarding an investigation, reporting a safety violation or hazardous condition, or refusing to work based on a safety violation or hazardous condition. When handling claims under the FRSA, Jeff represents whistleblowers both at the administrative stage with OSHA and in federal court.
In his free time, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, watching the San Francisco Giants and Fresno State Bulldogs, and playing guitar.
